WEDDINGS PAGE

All celebrants must adhere to the Code of Practice as set by the Attorney General’s Department and I absolutely comply with this – and I also follow an excellent work ethic. I take my celebrant work very seriously and take great pride in having everything running smoothly on your wedding day… You can choose family or friends to do a reading at your wedding.

What can I offer you?

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The Notice of Intended Marriage Form

To be completed, signed and lodged with me, one clear month prior to the wedding and is valid for a period of 18 months. I need to sight an original birth certificate or an extract for anyone born in Australia. If born overseas, a birth certificate or an overseas passport.

Divorced:

I need to sight court evidence of Decree Absolute (before 1 July 2002) or Certificate of Divorce (after 1 JULY 2002)

Widowed:

I need to sight a Death Notice.

After the wedding – lodgement of paperwork (within 14 days of the wedding)

I will forward documents to the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths, Marriages, to ensure registration of your marriage. You can then apply for a registered copy of your Marriage Certificate so you can change bank details, passport, driver’s licence, etc...

Do I need to apply for a change of name when I marry?

Australian Law says that a woman assumes her husband’s name after the marriage and takes her husband’s surname as a matter of custom, not law.
